| For almost twenty years Dr. Golarz directed work
with at-risk children and delinquent gangs. In addition, he did extensive
work with juvenile courts, probation offices and police departments. For
approximately five years he taught law enforcement officers in and around
Chicago regarding the psychology of delinquency and deviant behavior.
In more recent years Dr. Golarz has keynoted national conventions and
Statewide and provincial conferences throughout the United States and
Canada including many criminal justice, school board, at-risk, effective
schools and school-to-work conferences and conventions. His keynote
addresses are noted particularly for their humor, inspiration and insights.
During his career he has served as an elementary and secondary teacher,
administrator at various levels including superintendent and taught
at Indiana University, Purdue University and City University in Seattle.
Many of Dr. Golarz's efforts and programs received State and Federal
recognition for their prevention and intervention strategies. In Edward
Fiske's Smart Schools, Smart Kids Dr. Golarz's urban work was cited,
discussed and praised.
He is the co-author of both Restructuring Schools for Excellence through
Teacher Empowerment and The Power of Participation. In addition, he
is the author of Transformational Leadership in the Learning Organization.
