| Spence is best known for his work in the area of building
high performance classrooms, helping to make learning by all a reality
through enhanced student motivation, improved curriculum, and assessment
that is aligned with research-supported, brain-compatible instruction.
Spence is consistently recognized for his abilities to make what he teaches
practical while helping others to build on their strengths.
Spence began his career in education over 25 years ago, serving as
a high school math teacher, a math department chairperson, a curriculum
coordinator, a staff-development resource teacher, a college instructor,
and now as a consultant to schools, districts, boards, and states. He
has worked with schools and districts across the United States and in
Japan, Canada, Puerto Rico, Italy, Korea, Turkey, Germany, Hong Kong,
and Guam.
With his colleagues, Spence has authored four best-selling books that
are highly praised for their practicality and adherence to research
and best-known practices: Motivation & Learning, The High Performance
Toolbox, and Teaching Tips and Teaching Treasures.
